• Applying process control to reduce elastin breakage, improve fabric quality, and minimize waste
The demand for comfortable clothing is increasing day by day. This increasing demand has made spandex an essential component of weft knitted fabrics. However, frequent spandex breakage during knitting reduces fabric production efficiency, reduces quality and increases material wastage. Which also increases financial costs. This study has investigated the root causes of spandex breakage and implemented a control method to reduce the problem that will solve the problems. Key variables such as yarn tension and friction, machine speed, spandex wheel yarn path alignment, environmental conditions and elastane quality have to be analyzed and optimized. By reducing these defects, the project expects to enhance fabric quality, reduce rework, and improve overall knitting productivity—offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution.
